Accuracy

The Editors, GOLF MAGAZINE The X-16 is not billed as Callaway's most game-improving iron; that distinction is reserved for the wide-soled Big Bertha or Hawk Eye VFT. Still, for most testers, the X-16 does not disappoint. ...Interestingly, questions about the club's forgiveness come from an unlikely source: low handicappers.
Don Wilson Either I hit every shot perfectly or these are the most forgiving clubs I've ever played.
George Irwin This is the only iron I've played that can take a thin hit and truly make it invisible.
Eric Jack The X-16 is especially good at minimizing slice spin.
Lee Neisler They're great on slight mis-hits, but anything more costs me some distance and direction.
Distance
The Editors, GOLF MAGAZINE The above-average distance is the result of a combination of the graphite shaft, strong lofts, and lots of sole weighting.
Feel
The Editors, GOLF MAGAZINE The graphite-shafted X-16 has a light feel, but testers are divided -- and not along handicap lines -- about the club's feedback.
Jeremy Butler I can't feel the difference between good shots and bad. I need more feel than this to hit finesse shots.
Don Ytterberg The sense of connecting is really enjoyables. It's a resounding whack at impact, but not as harsh as other cast clubs.
Michael Jo Perfectly balanced and stable through impact. The feedback is immediate.
Playability
The Editors, GOLF MAGAZINE There is little dispute about the ability to produce a high, soaring trajectory, even with the long irons. The ball flight allows players to change the way they approach the game. ...Additionally, better players don't have any trouble shaping shots.
Michael Kaye I play a fade, but these produce a nice little draw, consistently.
Bob McCarthy The results are good from any lie. The sole glides through the rough and refuses to dig.
Joe Nagel The ability to shape a shot is a pleasant surprise, considering the game-improvement design.

Callaway X-16

Summary:
Here are the set of irons I have been searching for. This is my first set of Callaways after the last 5 seasons I played Cleveland TA-7's, Ping i3 and i3 +'s. This set is quite a nice balance of distance with proper trajectory and sizziling accuracy. The stock graphite shafts are nicely suited for my moderate smooth tempo swing. I am a 7 handicap who could hit forged blade irons, but why when this set gives such a more rounded performance. The feel when hit off the sweetspot is solid, and mis hits are quite playable. I thought it would be hard to knock the PINGS out of the bag, but this latest set of Callaway's did it. Expensive, but worth the money.

X-16 Regular

Summary:
Have been in the market for the last 3 months looking for a good replacement for the Ping ISI-Ks I have been using for the last 5 years.

Shortlisted TaylorMade RAC-OS and the X-16s (Regular & Pro). I only use steel shafts for my irons as they are easier to work with and dont require much fine tuning.

Now the choice I made - I picked RACs 5 thru LW and X-16 regulars 3-4 Irons. To justify this selection I have the following input.

1. X-16 wedges and short irons lack feel and are not suitable for controlling shots. I could not hit a single low iron no matter where I positioned the ball are altered by swing. Chipping with the wedges was a nightmare - there was NO feedback, you could swing and pray thats about it. The X-16 (Pro) has less offset but is no different from the regular version in any other department.
The RACs had a better feel and were a lot more workable.

2. The long irons (Mid for some).... the X-16s gave me the benefit of being able to put the ball in air and be fairly accurate no matter how I was swinging. Since I donot want to turn pro..I needed good distance and forgiveness and found this in the X-16s.

I am in the market for a new stand bag and considering the exotic cocktail in the bag I will buy a Callaway Daytripper and a Taylormade Towel..;-)

Callaway X-16 Iron set

Summary:
I live in Singapore but play mostly at the Ria Bintan, Ocean Course in Bintan/Indonesia. (Rated best course in Asia)

I'm a 18 handicap golfer and I bought the Callaway X-16 irons at Pan West in Singapore, great service. These irons are a dream, especially my short game has improved. The ball stops dead when it hits the green!

Longer shots from 120 - 160 meters are also easy to manage.

I can really recommend this set for any golfer whose handicap is between 14-24.

callaway x-16

Summary:
I tried the x-16 demos and rediscovered the feel of my old game. I grew up on blades and the demands of stiff, heavy clubs but stopped playing until recently. I decided on a set of 822's after trying a few clubs, thinking I needed a light, whippy offset iron that would make golf easy. Well, the x-16 reminded me that a golf club should speak to you as you swing and communicate where you are in relation to where you want to be. I knew, kinesthetically, through each swing what the club was doing and how I needed to adjust. Suddenly I wasn't guessing where the club head was and whether or not I was muscling across the ball. The club provided the information physiologically. Needless to say, i really enjoyed hitting the ball with this 6 iron (rifle-stiff) and plan on ordering a set as soon as I can test the TT DG s300 shaft against the rifle.

Summary:
When I first got these clubs I thought they were incredible. I flew a 225yd approach on a par 5 w/ my 4 iron. And no there was not a trace of wind. But I've had them for 3 months now and my complaint is the distance control. I'll sometimes hit my 9 iron 145 and sometimes 160.. that goes for all the short irons.. the long irons are consistent and are the easiest to hit out there.. but I just have no confidence in the short scoring irons. I'd rather mix them up w/ blade short irons and I would have the perfect set. But as of right now.. I'm considering trying something far less forgiving to give me consistant distance and trajectory.

Summary:
tried these in Amsterdam but were too expensive for a 'starter' and had opted for Taylor Made RAC OS. But luckily got an excellent deal with True Temper R300 shafts and am already hitting straighter and feeling much more confident thanks to the fantastic looks on address. A joy to hit when the rain stops in Holland. Added a Callaway V forged wedge to complete the set and a very impressed

Callaway: X-16 PRO SERIES Iron Set

Summary:
I tried demos for several range sessions, and I can't imagine a club having a bigger sweet spot and more built in length. Nice, smooth, relaxed swings produced strait, long, pretty ball flights. The problem was the only way I could hit decent shots was slow and smooth. I like to go after my irons, and the more I tried to smack the X-16's, the wider the dispersion, and the worse the feel. I liked the heavy weight in the head at first, but it quickly brought on fatigue, and was difficult to manage toward the end of a large bucket. It's a brilliant design for creating forgiveness, and probably an ideal choice for beginners and smooth tempos, but they did not accomodate more aggressive, later unloaded swings.
