I tried the x-16 demos and rediscovered the feel of my old game. I grew up
on blades and the demands of stiff, heavy clubs but stopped playing until
recently. I decided on a set of 822's after trying a few clubs, thinking I
needed a light, whippy offset iron that would make golf easy. Well, the x-16
reminded me that a golf club should speak to you as you swing and
communicate where you are in relation to where you want to be. I knew,
kinesthetically, through each swing what the club was doing and how I needed
to adjust. Suddenly I wasn't guessing where the club head was and whether or
not I was muscling across the ball. The club provided the information
physiologically. Needless to say, i really enjoyed hitting the ball with
this 6 iron (rifle-stiff) and plan on ordering a set as soon as I can test
the TT DG s300 shaft against the rifle.

When I first got these clubs I thought they were incredible. I flew a 225yd
approach on a par 5 w/ my 4 iron. And no there was not a trace of wind. But
I've had them for 3 months now and my complaint is the distance control.
I'll sometimes hit my 9 iron 145 and sometimes 160.. that goes for all the
short irons.. the long irons are consistent and are the easiest to hit out
there.. but I just have no confidence in the short scoring irons. I'd rather
mix them up w/ blade short irons and I would have the perfect set. But as of
right now.. I'm considering trying something far less forgiving to give me
consistant distance and trajectory.

tried these in Amsterdam but were too expensive for a 'starter' and had
opted for Taylor Made RAC OS. But luckily got an excellent deal with True
Temper R300 shafts and am already hitting straighter and feeling much more
confident thanks to the fantastic looks on address. A joy to hit when the
rain stops in Holland. Added a Callaway V forged wedge to complete the set
and a very impressed

I tried demos for several range sessions, and I can't imagine a club having
a bigger sweet spot and more built in length. Nice, smooth, relaxed swings
produced strait, long, pretty ball flights. The problem was the only way I
could hit decent shots was slow and smooth. I like to go after my irons, and
the more I tried to smack the X-16's, the wider the dispersion, and the
worse the feel. I liked the heavy weight in the head at first, but it
quickly brought on fatigue, and was difficult to manage toward the end of a
large bucket. It's a brilliant design for creating forgiveness, and probably
an ideal choice for beginners and smooth tempos, but they did not accomodate
more aggressive, later unloaded swings.
